. recent polls show president obama holds a lead over romney in the tri-state. both are scheduled to campaign tomorrow in virginia. the president will be in virginia beach while romney will hold a rally in springfield. in business news, bank of america is dealing with foreclosed homes, and more americans are feeling secure. more from linda bell. >> stock-index futures indicating open. little changed. 43% of americans see themselves as better off now compared with 33% when president obama took office in 2009. what is interesting is asixbank of america is being sued by the national fair housing alliance. they claim the bank disregarded repossessed homes in minority neighborhoods and have yet to make any improvement addressing the problem. foreclosed homes continue to accumulate trash have broken windows, and lack elements to avoid fires. bank of america says it stands by its property maintenance and marketing practices. 170 million people plan to celebrate halloween this year and are willing to spend big bucks on it. more on that in the next hour. linda bell reporting for abc 7 news

, but sometimes polls are lagging indicators. steve. a media poll came out showing a land slide obama win in florida. i don't believe it. i don't know what a poll shows in the end of september. but all of the fundmentams in florida suggest to me a close competitive race and that is one that governor romney must have to get to 270. he needs florida. and i would caution people that polls in the end of september are worth what you personally pay for them >> steve: that's right. they are free. one of mr. romney's polsters said don't believe. runn away in florida and way away in ohio for mr. obama, and we saw by the graphic, larry . mr. obama has more leaning his way than mr. romney. according to the internal romney polls, they are within the margin of error in florida and ohio. >> yes, essentially it depends on your model, steve and depends on how you project the likely voterss electorate in november. and so if you define the electtorate being lower minority you will come up with a higher romney score and higher minority it is better for obama. there is a lot of ways to play with the numbers.

is facing an uphill battle in ohio. a new poll showing president obama has a 10 point lead in the buckeye state. but is he having better luck on the national stage? let's ask scott rasmussen, founder and president of rasmussen reports. let me ask you this, where do you think, scott, the tide really turned here for mitt romney, because your polling two months ago showed us that mitt romney was actually doing well on the issue of the economy. what happened? >> well, first of all, the race hasn't changed as much as the current hike suggests. it has tilted a little bit against mitt romney. we're still showing it tied nationally at 46%, romney is down by a point in ohio. that's not great news for him, but it's not a sea change in the race. what's happened? people are feeling better about the economy. consumer confidence is up, and people have not been convinced that mitt romney would be any better than barack obama. cheryl: but you know what, scott? 60% of americans right now believe that we're in a recession still. i mean, maybe we're not technically in one, but americans still feel that way.
